Potassium nitrate is available in crystalline and prill forms.

Crystalline potassium nitrate

There are various purity grades of crystalline potassium nitrate listed in the PNA members‘ product portfolio. Here below the general characteristics are presented (Table 1). For more details, it is suggested to contact the individual member companies.

Vegetables and flowers grown in hydroponics and on inert substrates are very sensitive to product purity. Under these conditions, the purest source of crystalline potassium nitrate is recommended. The chemical analysis shows minimum 13,5 % N-NO3 and 46,0 % K2O.

For less demanding applications, such as soil-grown crops under fertigation, an agricultural grade of crystalline potassium nitrate is available. The chemical analysis shows minimum 13,0 % N-NO3 and 45,0 % K2O.

Prilled potassium nitrate

Potassium nitrate prills have an average diameter of 1,7 – 2,0 mm. The chemical analysis shows minimum 13,0 % N-NO3 and 44,0 % K2O.
